If you’re a high-profile man in Hollywood, taking risks on the red carpet isn’t the done thing. Traditional suiting still reigns supreme, and while stars such as Billy Porter consistently push boundaries by wearing full-on gowns, the majority of famous gents stick with the status quo. But there’s a new daring fashion trend that does seem to be gaining momentum on the step and repeat: Harry Styles did it at the Met Gala, and now American Horror Story star Cody Fern is doing it, too.

The double take-worthy look in question? Freeing the nipple, which is exactly what Fern did this weekend while making an appearance in Hollywood, for an American Horror Story: Apocalypse kickoff event. The Australian actor wore an outfit by Maison Margiela, slipping on a black suit with a transparent turtleneck top underneath—chest on full display! It made for a more subversive twist on a black tie dress code, in the same way Styles did at the Met Gala earlier this month with a ruffled sheer top. On his feet, Fern finished off the head-turning ensemble with Margiela’s famous Tabi boots in patent, a split-toe style he’s worn many times before.
