Ralph Lauren’s Stirrup Watch, with its leather band and Roman-numeral face, is as classic a timepiece as it can get. But in honor of its 10th anniversary, the fashion brand decided that even classics sometimes deserve a twist. Come October, Ralph Lauren will launch its Mini Stirrup Watch, which, as one could surmise, is almost identical to the original albeit in smaller size. To celebrate, it held an intimate dinner at The Polo Bar.
The event brought together a glamorous group of women, including Valerie Macaulay, Claire Olshan, Nell Diamond, Nicky Rothschild, and Laura Love. Crimson arrangements of ranunculus, roses, and anemones adorned the table, providing a perfect contrast to the hunter-green walls of The Polo Bar’s private room. The modern American menu offered some of the restaurant’s most well-known dishes: house salad with avocado and mustard vinaigrette, chicken under a brick, and its famous burger. The delectable fare was served upon plaid dishes from Ralph Lauren’s Home Collection.
But the highlight of the evening was the surprise guest: Mr. Lauren himself. Just as the petit fours were being served, the designer—wearing his trademark leather jacket—popped in to say hello.
Although the evening eventually came to an end, the attendees were left with a fashionable parting gift: their very own Mini Stirrup Watch, presented in a monogrammed box. One can say a good time was had by all.
