It’s not always obvious how fashion designs will translate to the setting of a table or the transformation of a space, but LoveShackFancy wears its heart on its puffed sleeves. So for a dinner celebrating the brand’s new shop on Bleecker Street, it seemed inevitable that its signature prairie dresses and beribboned silk shifts would inspire flower-laden, candlelit tables—all part of a fantasyland where the softest touches are the strongest.
LoveShackFancy founder Rebecca Hessel Cohen cited her goal of the evening as “bringing more beauty into the world,” and she succeeded with help from event designer Rebecca Gardner, who filled vintage silver bowls with cherries and shell candies, wrapped chair backs in tulle, and strung ivy onto the walls of Bobo in the West Village. Roses and peonies were arranged artfully by FLWR Studio’s Emily Buckner. As the salad course was served, a waiter carrying a parasol emerged; rosemary brittle bread hung on pink ribbons from its perimeter. The room was light with laughter as guests including Amy Astley, Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece, and Hilary Rhoda enjoyed fresh trout and filet mignon. Everyone wore the fluttery dresses LoveShackFancy is known for, and they accessorized with the silk ribbons and scrunchies that were passed around on trays. (Some had come with tiaras, and flowers in their hair, already.)
Dessert was a rose-adorned, tiered cake served on the terrace amid sparklers. The girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes quickly discovered LoveShackFancy is just as fun on the dance floor as it is at a dusky dinner.
