Put your iPhone away: Today’s top models are making a case for the disposable camera as a new going-out essential. Last month, Gigi Hadid was spotted snapping pics of Met Gala guests at the Camp: Notes on Fashion exhibition with what looked like a Fujifilm Quick Snap, and later debuted the images on her Instagram stories. And this past Monday, a different pack of models, Cindy Bruna and Adesuwa Aighewi specifically, were caught by Corey Tenold doing just the same at the 2019 CFDA Awards pink carpet. A gaggle of fashionable friends seems to call for a bit of non-instant, no-filter film.

Although the iPhone can snap nearly 25 photos of the same shot in just seconds, it requires sifting, deleting, and favorite-ing before finding the right one. There's something relaxing about leaving the processing up to chance, and embracing its resulting imperfections. (iPhone users are even seeking the grainy film effect with apps like Huji Cam.) Plus, there’s more skill involved in taking the photo when you can’t filter after, making it a worthwhile hobby to get into. The resulting photos feel all the more precious.
